About Good Dog Obedience

Good Dog Obedience is locally owned and operated by Jen Haggart in Grande Prairie Alberta. Jen has been training dogs since 2003 and has experience with a varied collection of breeds. Jen is a graduate of Canada West Canine Center (a post-secondary institution) in Salmon Arm, BC as a Certified Master Trainer. CWCC is a hands-on (with her own dog) training school, not a Home Study/Online dog obedience training program. Jen has taken an intensive program with education in Dog Breeds, Dog Care, and Kennel Management. Hands on work in Basic, Advanced, and Utility Obedience also Agility, Personal Protection, Attack- and Police K9, Tracking, Security and Support Dog. Jen has also kept her education going with a variety of Dog Behavior seminars all over western Canada.

Ever since she can remember Jen has had a passion for animals. She remembers growing up and wanting a killer whale, cheetah, and a lion for pets and to train. Her Dad finally persuaded her with her own puppy, a puppy she had to train, raise and care for on her own. Jen has grown up with dogs. She has seen the birth and assisted in many labors of her Golden Retrievers. Jen always knew she wanted to work with dogs. In 2002, when she was informed about Canada West Canine Center she knew this was her calling. Jen believes in having a well-trained dog, whether that is an obedience quality dog or just a darn good pet. Jens’ heart lies with therapy dogs and she has worked with the senior population for 7 years as a therapy assistant. She thrives on with working with Alzheimer patients, has had hands on experience and has seen how touching it is when therapy dogs are brought into those facilities.
